A Message from Stacy Quinn, stroke survivor
During my heart to heart talk with Patty Stern, a 2021 American Heart Association Women of Impact Nominee, and heart attack survivor, I shared my personal story to raise awareness of stroke in young women.
Most people don’t know that one in five women will have a stroke in her lifetime and that stroke is the No. 4 cause of death in women.
We all get busy in our everyday lives—perhaps too busy. And in the process, we tend to ignore or disregard signs that things might not be right with our health. I’m guilty as well. I waited 10 days after experiencing stroke symptoms to get the help I needed. That delay could have cost me my life. It’s also why I am a strong believer that we all need to become active CEOs of our own health. In the fight against stroke and heart disease, we all need to trust our bodies and get help the minute things don’t seem right.
A special thank you to Patty for creating this series to educate people about important health issues and her work to raise money for life-saving research. If it wasn’t for research, I wouldn’t be here today. Please consider donating to Patty’s Go Red For Women campaign to help save lives and fund much-needed research. ❤
